Not Enough

By: Steven Ballman

On a afternoon that looked like the first, and probably the only time the full roster would be in attendance, the 7 Up boys were left scrambling last second for a starting pitcher and shortstop.  In stepped Tyler Wester, who started after being Concordia University's closer all season.  Wester looked the part, retiring the first 7 Blue Sox he faced.  The 8th batter struck out swinging but a errant throw down to first base allowed the first base runner of the game.  Before you knew it 4 runs were in on just 1 hit.  Wester's bad luck would continue in the 4th.  A error allowed the leadoff batter to reach, 3 consecutive pass balls allowed the runner to score.  Wester allowed 3 ER's in 6 innings and took the loss.

Offensively was not much better.  The luck wasn't with 7 Up today.  Jed Justman, Matt Parrent, and Dylan Hinkley all hit home runs in a losing cause.  Hinkley and Brandon Mantz led 7 Up with 2 hits.

7 Up will look to get the bats going again Thursday night weather permitting in the Tri-County opener against Hartland before heading out on a challenging double up weekend at Pewaukee and at Merton, both playoff teams from last season.
