Matthies Haunts Old Team
The yo-yo continues in Wisconsin State League action as West Bend 7 Up defeated Sheboygan 7-2. Wins against league powers Kenosha and Sheboygan and being mudstomped by West Allis and Addison, the rest of the league has to be wondering what 7 Up team is going to show up game to game. West Bend 7 Up found itself in a pitcher's dual between 7 Up starter Matt Schubert and Sheboygan starter Brandon Winfield. 1-0 in the 5th and 7 Up finally tied the game. Jed Justman still knows how to run the bases folks. Justman got a huge lead and jump and stole third easily, when the throw went into left field, all of a sudden the score was tied at 1. After West Bend scored 3 runs in the 6th thanks to 3 errors, they put Sheboygan away with a bases clearing 3 RBI double by former A's player and current 7 Up player Sam Matthies. Matthies and Zach Biermann had multiple hits for 7 Up. Biermann is hitting a ridiculous .692 on the season.
West Bend next plays on Friday against the Lannon Stonemen, at 7:30 at Carl Kuss. If the game is postponed due to rain, the game will be made up the following day, Saturday. at 5 PM at Carl Kuss.
