Biermann's Grand Slam Leads 7 Up Comeback Win

Friday marked the line in the sand when teams go from nobody in the dugout as reserves to almost having no room to move around in the dugout as West Bend 7 Up welcomed back college players Brandon Mantz and Ryan Morrison, and welcomed newcomer Sam Matthies into the fold.  And while all 3 wish their college season's were still going on, the 7 Up team was excited for them to make their season debuts against Neosho.  Billy Bynum, off his strong start in the Tri County opener against Hustisford, one week earlier, got the start again, and gave 7 Up 5 strong innings.  Neosho scored 1 each in the first 3 innings.  Both teams left a village in the first 4 innings.  It wasn't until the 4th when Jed Justman's aggressive base running got 7 Up on the board.  7 Up scored 3 in the 5th on some sloppy plays, and the big blow that put the game out of reach was a Zach Biermann grand slam in the 7th for 7 Up.  Brandon Mantz pitched 3 strong innings in relief of Bynum for the victory.

West Bend 7 Up returns the field Sunday, in a Mother's Day clash against the Brookfield Blue Sox.
