The Hetebrueg/Bullock Train Is Back On Track

By: Steven Ballman

On what turned out to be a beautiful night for baseball in West Bend and with Oil Can Harry playing at Seafood Fest in the park, the West Bend 7 Up baseball club looked to rebound after an embarrassing weekend before.  This was going to be a uphill battle though due to the absence of 3 starters again.  However 7 Up welcomed back Andy Hetebrueg, Jonathan Nick, Nathan Krause, and Billy Lawton to the squad.

Things did not look good early for Bryant Bullock on the mound in the first.  Two singles and a walk allowed Lannon to take the lead.  But fortunately for 7 Up, that would be the only baserunners that would reach from that point forward.  Bullock, who pitched a no hitter in week 1 against Hartland, was so dominate Friday night he threw a complete game only throwing 89 pitches.

The bats were not as kind to the 7 Up guys tonight, or for the past 3 weeks for that matter.  A RBI sacrifice fly Nathan Krause in the 2nd allowed Andy Hetebrueg to score to tie the game.  7 Up would have all sorts of chances to take the lead but leaving runners in scoring position has kind of become a fad.  It wasn't until the 9th until 7 Up finally broke through.  A lead off single by Daniel Mueller, a perfect bunt by Taylor Koth got Mueller to 2nd, an intentional walk to Mike Mueller, a strike out, and then Andy Hetebrueg reminded us all why he is so clutch, with a RBI single to through the hole between third and short scoring Daniel Mueller.

The 7 Up boys pulled out the 2-1 victory to move to 3-3 in Lakes.  The next travel to Neosho to play in a Tri-County Night League game on a Saturday.  This will be 7 Up's 6th chance at a Tri-County opener.
