7 UP Wins on the 4th
7 Up defeated the Brookfield Blue Sox Tuesday 8-2 in Brookfield. The win now puts 7 UP back on top of the Suburban division with 5 divsion games left to play. On a beautiful Independence Day for baseball, the game started ugly for 7 UP. Mr. 3000 Legend Johnny Arnold K'd the side in surgical like fashion. But with Matt Schubert on the mound, 7 UP would only need a few runs to win. Instead of a few, 7 UP plated 6 runs in the 2nd, which included 6 of thier 12 hits on the day. That was all Matt Schubert would need as he went 7 strong innings scattering 6 hits and striking out 7. With the win Schubert improves to 3-0 on the year with a 2.31 ERA. 7 Up added 2 runs in the 8th to grab some insurance and blow it open. It was highlighted by Adam "Putz" Sarauer barely scoring on a ball to the gap after a clear miscommuncation with the manager Rohls at 3rd. It appeared Putz thought the wave around was a stop sign. Matt Parrent closed out the final 2 innings with a bunch of breaking balls or whatever those pitches were. Tom "TJ" Seewald even threw the helmet and cleats on in the 9th for a 35 second pinch running appearance. Everyone got involved in the win.
7 Up Cold One Player of the Day- Matt Schubert- In a battle for the top of the division, Schubert brought his A game against a strong hitting ball club.
7 Up Cold One Youngster of the Day- Kenna Bynum- Easy choice here. Kenna snagged a visiting record 11 foul balls while outrunning males numerous times to secure that 20 cents. If Steven Ballman is anywhere near Southeastern Wisconsin he will be taking notice.
